Airtel internet bundles
A few weeks back , my very close friend told me of how Airtel’s network has been so good at his location. Out of curiosity , i decided to test the waters by subscribing to an airtel data plan which cost me #2,500 for 5GB of data. I’ve been using the network for 16 days now and it has been a mix of both worlds.
Initially , the network performed well at the beginning and i was in “cloud 9” for few days. It’s been a while since i experienced internet that fast but my joy was short lived as the network speed dropped drastically , as you would expect from a Nigerian telco.
So , what actually happened ?
Frankly speaking , i honestly can’t say what happened because i have no control of Airtel and how much internet speed i get. However i did enjoy fast internet for most part of my subscription.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the airtel internet bundles available in Nigeria.
Airtel Internet Bundles In Nigeria
Airtel Internet Bundles fall into various categories. You have the daily plans , weekly plans and monthly plans. As their name suggests , daily , monthly and weekly plans are valid for 24hours , 30days and 7days.
Daily plans :
The daily plans offers internet access for a limited time (24hours) after which the subscription will be terminated (see meaning) whether or not you exhaust your bundles. This plan is recommended for users who just want quick access to the internet for a limited time.
- 50MB plan (Valid for 24hours) – Price : #100 , Dial *410#
- 200MB or #200 (Valid for 3days) – Price : #200 , dial *412#
Weekly Plans :
Airtel’s weekly plans offers internet for a longer period of time and is more expensive than the daily plan (as you would expect). These plans offers internet connection for a full week.
- 350MB (Valid for 7days) – Price : #300 , dial *417#
- 750MB (Valid for 2weeks) – Price : #500 , dial *418#
Monthly Plans :
This is the big one. Airtel monthly internet plans is the standard subscription that everyone should consider ; these bundles offer large volume of data for 30days.
We’re talking 30days of massive streaming and social media interactions. See the bundles below :
- 1.5GB (Valid for 30days) – Price : #1,000 , dial *496#

- 5GB (valid for 30days) – Price : #2,500 , dial : *437*1#
- 7GB ( Valid for 30days) – Price : #3,500 , dial : *438#
- 9GB (Valid for 30days) – Price : #4,000 , dial : *438*1#
- 10GB (valid for 30days) – Price : #5,000 , dial : *452#
What Is The Ideal Amount To Spend on Data Bundles?
Frankly speaking , there is no ideal amount to spend on data bundles. This decision depends on how deep your pocket is and how frequent you use the internet.
I actually considered other networks (MTN , Etisalat & Glo) but one of the reasons why i chose Airtel internet bundles was that mtn’s data plan is more expensive than Airtel , and you get similar data volume but at a more expensive price. Airtel offers 5GB data for just #2,500 but MTN offers 5GB for #3,500.
So my advice is to go for a bundle that suits your pocket and always grab a deal whenever you can.
